High Build S-200 Waterproof Sealant

How long does HighBuild S-200 take to cure?

Generally speaking, 120 wet mils (3mm) will dry to a 2 mm dry thickness in 24 hours. HighBuild S-200 is a water based product and as a result is effected by temperature and humidity.

How do I prep with HighBuild S-200 and Geo-Textile?

3 Course Method – Coat the surface with approximately 1 mm (the thickness of a dime) of HighBuild S-200, then coat one side of the geo-textile and embed the coated side into the HighBuild S-200. Smooth the surface allowing no ripples or gaps then coat the exposed geo-textile with another 1 mm of S-200. Allow to cure approximately 24 hours before adding another coat (can be a thicker coat).

How do I cover gaps or cracks?

For gaps or cracks larger than a quarter thickness (1.5mm), use the 3 course method HighBuild S-200/Geo-Textile/HighBuild S-200 system to bridge. Extend the edges past the gap or crack approximately 3 inches/7.5 cm’s.

How thick should I build up my final membrane?

The final cured waterproof membrane of HighBuild S-200 should be 2mm (80 dry mils or about the thickness of 2 dimes) for roofs, ponds & areas of ponding water. Generally 3 coats will be required to build the final membrane to 2 mm. For vertical or sloped surfaces, approximately 2 coats (1.5 mm) (60 mils).

Can I build my final membrane all at once?

Too much HighBuild S-200 material will extend the curing time and create a skin on top, possibly preventing the uncured portion from curing resulting in a membrane that is not waterproof.

How should I prepare the area before applying HighBuild S-200?

Ensure the surface is dry, free of dirt, debris, oil, grease, coal tar, efflorescence, flaking paint, silicone, solvenated materials or other contaminants.

What kind of applications are suitable for HighBuild S-200?

HighBuild S-200 is a general purpose waterproofing sealant that can be used for a wide variety of applications for waterproofing, corrosion protection, as a vapor barrier, for sound proofing and water containment. HighBuild S-200 is an excellent choice for roof maintenance, roof restoration, waterproofing foundations, retaining walls, gutter repair, shower liners, decks, patios, fences, planter boxes, ponds, waterfalls, waste containment, barn roofs, silos, docks, piers, boat hulls, dams, commercial steel and built up roofs.

Will the sun affect HighBuild S-200?

No, the chemistry of HighBuild S-200 is such that it’s UV resistance is excellent.

Is HighBuild S-200 environmentally friendly?

Yes, HighBuild S-200 is water based with no VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) or solvents.

Will salt water affect HighBuild S-200?

Salt water will not harm HighBuild S-200. HighBuild S-200 is particularly effective as a protective coating against corrosion and can be simply brushed on to rusted areas.

What chemicals will affect HighBuild S-200?

HighBuild S-200 resists most chemicals. HighBuild S-200 is a bitumen-based product and is susceptible to hydrocarbons like gas and oils. Please refer to the chemical resistant chart in approvals and certifications.

What should I use to apply HighBuild S-200?

Brushes, roller and squeegees are all effective ways to apply HighBuild S-200. Rubber gloves are a good idea to reduce clean up as well.

What should I use to clean up?

Soap and water, baby oil, and a bristle brush.

What if I see blisters?

Small blisters occur from time to time because of trapped water under the membrane which should cure out over time. If large blisters occur, there may be a bigger moisture issue coming from the substrate.

What temperature can I apply HighBuild S-200?

HighBuild S-200 is water based and therefore must be applied above +5 degrees Celsius. Do not allow material to freeze.

Can I spray HighBuild S-200?

HighBuild S-200 can be sprayed by using a high quality piston pump like the Lemmer HP-9500.

How do I clean the spray unit?

Use mineral spirits to flush the spray unit and cap the lines so no air gets in. Repeat if necessary.



SealRoof A-100 and CreteSafe T-300

How do I prep concrete before applying?

Use Stone Saver concrete cleaner or equivalent (found at Home Hardware) and follow directions. Concrete must be clean, dry, free of stains, dirt, grease, oil and loose material. For commercial or industrial applications, please contact Liquid Rubber support.

What if I have cracks in the concrete, how should I prep them?

Cracks can be filled with HighBuild S-200 or Trowel Grade B-400. Allow to cure fully before application.

How thick can I apply the coating?

Apply each coat approx 10-20 mils and let cure before applying the next. Avoid building up too much product at one time as this can cause cracking

What do I use to apply?

Seal Roof A-100 can be applied with a regular latex sprayer, rolled or brushed. CreteSafe T-300 can be brushed, rolled and sprayed with a stipple or aggregate sprayer. Spraying gives a more uniform finish than rolling.

Can I apply A-100 over HighBuild S-200?

Yes, using HighBuild S-200 as the main waterproofing layer with a top coat of A-100 to provide a specific color is a great system to provide a better looking finish then black.

What temperature can I apply A-100 & T-300?

Because it is water based, it must be applied about 10 degrees Celsius and above. Avoid application in direct hot sunlight.

Curing Time?

Depending on the job, it can be from hours to days. i.e. light metal or concrete coating – vehicle traffic.



SealRoof B-200

Is B-200 alright with exposure to sunlight?

Yes, B-200 is specially designed with UV resistant polymers.

How much area can I spray in a day?

Approximately 8,000 sq ft per day with one gun. 2 guns can be hooked up to 1 pump as well.

When can I apply B-200 over my prepped S-200 areas?

Usually within 24 hrs. If the S-200 is not cured enough you will not get adequate adhesion between the S-200 and B-200. The curing process expels water and will effect adhesion.

How is a built up tar and gravel roof done with Liquid Rubber?

General process is to check and make sure there is no coal tar, remove the gravel and clean the area. Prep with seams, protrusions, parapets, mechanical… with 3 course method of S-200/Geo Textile/S-200, flood coat with single component B-200 and instant set B-200 where needed.

What is instant set?

The pump sprays two components (accelerator & S-200) that meet about 8 inches outside of the gun. When they touch, they instantly set to about 85% preventing sag and flow. This allows a seamless membrane up parapets, around mechanical and other contoured surfaces.

What if I have moisture in the roof or wet insulation?

There may be a need to install vents creating air flow to dry out the roof. Insulation might have to be removed and replaced at times as well. An infrared scan will show saturated areas.

How do I get trained to use the pump?

A Liquid Rubber representative will provide the appropriate training.

What temperature can I apply B-200?

Because it is waterbased, it must be applied about 5 degrees celsius and above.

Curing time?

Instant set cures 85% within minutes and 24-48hrs in normal temps. Single component B-200 2-4 days.

Can I apply HighBuild S-200 over instant set?

Yes, this is one of the great features of Liquid Rubber. Repairs are easily accomplished. Just be sure to wash off the accelerator residue before each application.

CreteSafe B-250

What kind of concrete can I spray on?

B-250 can be sprayed on all types of concrete, however the preparation can be different. Some concrete may have many little holes or honeycombing in which the CreteSafe A-Primer must be used. Please contact the technical office to discuss your project.

Will B-250 stick to ICF’s (Insulated Concrete Forms) or EPS?

Yes, It’s a much quicker and efficient way of providing a seamless waterproof membrane then other methods such as peel and stick. There are no solvents in Liquid Rubber that will eat away the foam.

Can I spray on freshly poured concrete (green)?

No, chemical reactions in the concrete must not be interrupted for approximately 3 weeks. Placing a waterproof membrane on the concrete will effect the concrete’s strength and integrity.

What do I do with cold joints and seams?

Use the 3 course method of S-200/Geo Textile/S-200 to prep areas. Trowel Grade B-400 can be used to fill larger holes and gaps.

Can I waterproof a wood foundation with B-250?

Yes

What’s the difference between damp proofing and waterproofing?

Damp proofing slows the penetration of water but still allows water to pass through. Waterproofing stops water from penetrating to the substrate.

What temperature can I apply B-250?

Because it is waterbased, it must be applied above 5 degrees celsius.

Metal Safe B-300

What does it do?

Provides exceptional corrosion protection for a variety of metal surfaces. Chemical and abrasion resistance in an instant setting flexible liner that resists cracking, aging and delamination.

Where can I use it?

Used to protect ferrous metal structures subjected to water or chemically aggressive environments. Applications include storage and process tanks, piping and structural features in; mining and ore facilities, fertilizer plants, water treatment plants, desalination plants, chemical processing facilities, pulp mills, power plants….

Can it go over rusted metal?

Yes, lightly rusted metal. Saves on costs associated with sand blasting.



Trowel Grade B-400

What is it?

A very thick (like peanut butter) waterproofing material for sealing and caulking applications. Flexible with excellent adhesion with resistance to chemicals and UV. Used to fill cracks and seams and applied with a trowel or putty knife.

What does Liquid Rubber not stick too or not used on?

Coal Tar, Silicone, Solvent based materials

Is Liquid Rubber Environmentally friendly?

Yes, it is water based and contains no solvents or VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds).

Shelf Life of product?

Approximately 1 year

Do I have to use it all at one time?

No, It can be resealed in its air tight container

What are the benefits of using Liquid Rubber?

Liquid Rubber allows freedom of architecture with the ability to waterproof difficult contours, creating a fully adhered, seamless membrane preventing tracking of water underneath. Large areas can be covered quickly saving on labor.
